HARROGATE COMPETITIVE FESTIVAL FOR MUSIC SPEECH + DRAMA Well Speech and Drama is what we do and what we do well here at KNARESBOROUGH SCHOOL OF SPEECH AND DRAMA And nothing can beat
bringing the Speech and Drama Championship Trophy back here for the twelfth time
in sixteen years. CONGRATULATIONS CHRISTIAN LUNN The
school was quite young when the Championship Trophy first came here in 1996.
It was won by Alexander Mackintosh who like Christian was a member of the
school from when he was four years old. Now a director and working for BBC In
1997, 1998 and 1999 the championship was won by Lucy Gradwell.
Never before or since has anyone achieved this amazing result.
Lucy is an actress. In
2001 the prestigious award went to Kathryn Oliver.
Kathryn is a theatrical agent in London. 2002
saw Sam Newsome taking home the trophy. Sam
didn’t even join KSSD until he was sixteen and his mother had to persuade me
to take him. A firm family friend
Sam trained at LIPA and is now an
actor. 2005
Daniel Fortune. Dan is living and
working in London. He is a working
actor specialising in Musical Theatre.
2006
The championship was won by Emma Waring. Emma
decided that treading the boards was not for her and went on to study Spanish.
Emma actually joined KSSD when she was three. 2007.
The first time that the championship was awarded for a duologue. This
time it was the turn of Robyn Howe and Jonathan Bradd (JB) JB is studying
Music/computing at Goldsmiths and Robyn is about to graduate from Bird where she
has been studying Dance and Theatre Performance………She already has an agent
so watch this space. Robyn was also
a member of KSSD from age three.
2008
Saw the trophy being awarded to Lucy Evans.
21 year old Lucy is at Hull University studying drama and still keeps a
close eye on events at KSSD. She also graduates this summer.
2010
The second time that the championship was awarded for a duologue and it
was the turn of Rob Ellis and Joss Lacey. All
but one of the contestants was from KSSD this year. Rob is studying script writing and performance at UEA and
Joss is studying Drama at East 15. 2011
And now it is Christian’s turn. There
are not many members of KSSD who are unaware of whom Christian is. Now eighteen
he has been here since he was four years old and has been an active member
throughout his young life. A young man of many talents I know you all want to
join with me in wishing him success when he leaves us in the summer. 2012 SPEECH AND DRAMA CHAMPIONSHIP RETURNS TO KNARESBOROUGH ONCE AGAIN!! CONGRATULATIONS TO REBECCA DALTRY FOR WINNING THE CHAMPIONSHIP. STUDENTS FROM KSSD HAVE BEEN THE PROUD WINNERS OF THIS CHAMPIONSHIP 11 TIMES IN THE PAST 13 YEARS!! Denyse. |
