LAMDA Examinations and the UCAS Tariff.

Many of you have asked about the changes in the marking system for LAMDA examinations, In particular the abolition of the HONOURS category along with the delivery of marks  “on the day”   The reasons behind this are many but suffice to say that  in the field of Speech and Drama LAMDA is  highly prestigious and one of only three Examination Boards  in this country which is QCA-Accredited .  Examiners are closely monitored to make sure that marks are standardised throughout the English speaking world and not just Great Britain. All Individual LAMDA Examinations from Grade 1 upwards are  QCA-Accredited so your child’s examination is a recognised qualification and one that will be recognised should you move away to another area and change teachers.  The Academy’s higher level qualifications are now included in the UCAS tariff  so this means that Students taking grades 6, 7 and 8 can now use these qualifications when applying to university.

Anyone who wishes to see a full list of the tariff points awarded is welcome to ask me or you can of course look on the LAMDA website.

However to give you a few examples:-

Distinction Grade 6.  Equivalent to C @ AS Level.  Merit C @ AS.  Pass D @ AS

Distinction Grade 7.  Equivalent to  A @ AS Level   Merit B @AS   Pass C @ AS

Distinction Grade 8.  Equivalent to  C  @ A Level    Merit  A @ AS  D @A Level .

                                                                                      Pass  B @AS    D @A Level.

The points awarded are between 20 and 120 and the graph is fairly extensive but

this hopefully explains to you how important and relevant these examinations are.  All the results below qualify for UCAS points.
